Waskom took a few graduation hits from its 2013 Class 2A state semifinalist team, but those graduations might go unnoticed once District 8-3A Division II gets underway. With a four-horsemen running consortium returning, the Wildcats can enter 2014 eyeing the 3A Division II title and the program already has deep postseason experience to lean on.

A little short on experience, you can never count out head coach Aric Sardinea and Daingerfield's winning tradition. The Tigers are fresh off a 10-4 record last season with a regional championship game appearance for the third-consecutive year. Seven starters from that team return.

Arp has been one of East Texas' most consistent programs in recent years. The big question is, how will the Tigers respond to a district feature Class 3A Division II state contender Waskom and a slew of other solid programs? Head coach Dale Irwin's 2014 team should be in good position to make their own run.

Paul Pewitt looks like it's in for a fight against Hughes Springs, ETSN.fm's Class 3A Preseason Poll's No. 10 team, as well as Hooks and Queen City for a District 7-3A Division II crown. That being said, the Brahmas look like they have an edge that can push them over the top.

Malakoff put together an outstanding run last season, highlighted by a 5-1 performance in District 7-2A Division I. Good news. The Tigers will return 11 starters this season for battle in District 11-3A Division I, will face two familiar district opponents in Eustace and Kemp, and there is some depth that has been waiting for an opportunity to shine.

The program returns nine starters from a team that went 10-2 last season and lost to teams  that went at least four rounds deep into the playoffs.
