NEW CHAPEL HILL -- The No. 6 Gladewater Lady Bears put on a hitting display, crushing Chapel Hill 19-2 in the their District 16-3A finale on Friday.

Gladewater moved to 28-3 overall and 9-3 in district play as it prepares for the playoffs next week.

Katy Stephens led the Lady Bears' attack with three hits, including a 2-run homer in a 10-run second inning. She also scored five runs.

Her little sister, Melanie Stephens, added two hits, two RBIs and four runs. Teammate Rachael Hitt collected two hits, scored three runs and drove in four. Sarah Hunger added two hits and three runs, while Katie Hickey finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Hickey went the distance in the circle, going four innings, giving up two unearned runs on two hits with six strikeouts.

Gladewater pushed across three runs in the first inning, exploded for 10 in the second, four in the third and two more in the fourth.

Chapel Hill's Kaitlyn Parker took the loss for the Lady Bulldogs.
