TYLER -- Ben Flanders nailed two free throws with 0.5 seconds remaining to help the Tyler King's Academy Royal Knights stun Henderson, 50-49, in Gold Bracket action at the annual Wagstaff Holiday Classic on Thursday.

With time running out and King's Academy trailing by one point, Flanders attempted a desperation heave at midcourt, but was fouled on the arm, forcing three free-throw attempts.

After missing the first one, Flanders calmly regrouped and canned the last two, leading to the biggest upset on the first day of tournament competition.

Caleb Sherrod led the Royal Knights with 20 points, five rebounds and four steals. Levi Taylor chipped in with 12 points.

Henderson was paced by Daryle Washington's 15 points, nine boards and two steals. Michael White added 12 points, three rebounds and three steals for the Lions.

The Lions raced out to a 12-3 lead after the opening quarter, but King's Academy closed the half on an 8-0 run to cut Henderson's halftime lead to just six at 23-17.

Flanders hit a pair of three throws with 1:36 remaining in the third quarter to give King's Academy its first lead of the game, 34-32. And Sherrod drained a 3-pointer to give the Royals Knights a 38-37 lead going into the fourth.

King's Academy advances to the winner's bracket and will face Tyler All Saints at 3 p.m. Friday. Henderson, meanwhile, meets Carthage at noon.
